Adam Frost - In Conversation 2025 BBC & Commercial Radio Preview
In conversation at Q Gardens is a picnic and performance day, which is going to start at the beginning of September. Four events from Thursday the 4th through to Sunday the 7th of September. On the Saturday, Gardeners World Live is digging deep, garden chat and top tips with the brilliant Adam Frost and Francis Tophill, hosted by the equally brilliant Nikki Chapman. Adam, this is a new venture. This is exciting. Yeah, it is, isn't it? And there's no script for this.
SPEAKER_00You're just going to be there chatting. Yeah, not I mean, but Nikki's really good at that. She's really good. And to be fair, she knows me really, really well. And she knows Frances well as well. So I think she could go wherever she wants. There's so much that Nikki knows about the pair of us. But I think it it should be really good fun. I think there's a there's a morning session and an afternoon session. But I think in a way it'll be it will be the conversation, but I think we'll probably talk everything from gardening, the power of gardening, ultimately the dogs, the you know, the pets, that side of stuff, but also mistakes, naughty stories. I think we're going to play a few games. It's meant to just be, you know, I suppose it is meant to be fun, yeah, you know, but when we're talking about digging a little deep, I think it's, you know, that's telling you a little bit about what's going on, what goes on behind the scenes with Gardener's World and maybe some of the mistakes and the things that we've made along the way. So it's all of that sort of stuff, really, which I think will be great fun.
SPEAKER_01It will, and it's one of those opportunities for people to feel that they've got to know you and Francis better. I mean, everybody, if you're on television, people think they know you. You you must appreciate this. And this is that opportunity to go that little bit deeper. So, as you say, it doesn't all the qu the conversation doesn't always have to be uh about gardening, it could be opening up the box on Adam Frost. How far are you prepared to go?
SPEAKER_00Mate, I'd to be fair, there's not, there's probably only a couple of things that I haven't shared anyway. We are sharing never. Um but yeah, but you know I'm like I'm quite an open person, so you know, if I'm asked a question, um I would probably answer it. Um, you know, so I I am that sort of person, um, which I think is weird because in in today's world, you know, people say, Oh, thank you very much for being so honest. You say, Well, why wouldn't you be honest? You know, and and now I think maybe people like that, you know, that you you will share a little bit of yourself with them. But yeah, it'll be good, it'll be good. Nikki's good at that. So like I say, Nikki, what'll really happen, if I'm really honest with you, is that they're gonna team up. It'll be it'll be Nikki and Francis having a lovely, lovely time. Me being the butt of everything and getting absolutely crucified, and and hopefully doing it gracefully.
SPEAKER_01But you see, you've got a very mischievous sense of humour, and they're just gonna get their own back on you. Of course they are, of course they are. Will you be saying anything about I know you like your holidays when you can get them because you're so busy, because you you do like a bit of Ibiza, don't you?
SPEAKER_00I love a bit of Ibitha mate. Um I was I was talking to a mate actually that's out there at the moment doing his um starting his season, um, and um, yeah, hopefully we'll go out a bit later on in the year. In fact, my my daughter um is getting married back end and um and she's gonna go out, and that's what I was phoning him about, just saying, Oh, could you think um we could sort out this, that, the other? So um, yeah, it was it was lovely. Yeah, I I love it. I love that sort of yeah, I don't know, maybe it's a I think as we get older, um just it's just that little touch, you know, just that little ah, this is fun. You know, you don't go doing it silly, just one really nice night, boom, right.
SPEAKER_01And by the time we get to September, you should have an outline for your father of the bride speech. I'm just gonna wing it. You're going to wing it. Does your daughter know this?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she goes, Dad, you don't. She's obviously heard me speak so many times. All she keeps saying is is because she obviously we work together, you know, and she organises, and well, to be fair, I work for her. Um, she just organises my life and bosses me about. So I think she's just genuinely, generally giving me a list of what I can't talk about. Ah, okay. Because as you said, I can be slightly mischievous.
SPEAKER_01You'll get yourself into big trouble.
SPEAKER_00Exactly.
SPEAKER_01It sounds like it's gonna be an absolutely brilliant uh event. The date for your diary is Saturday, the 6th of September, in conversation at Q Gardens with Adam Frost and Francis Toppill, hosted uh by Nikki Chapman. Lots of information on the website in ConversationLive.co.uk. Uh Adam, it's gonna be worth the entrance money just to hear how far you've got with your wedding speech and what happened in Ibiza. What happened in Ibiza stays in Ibiza when it's a little bit more than a little bit.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, it stays in Ibiza, mate. Well, no, I might do it. Yeah. Um but yeah, but also do you know what? It's it's worth the entrance just to have, you know, some time at Kew. Beautiful. I'm wonderful. Yeah, I love Kew just for its just for the trees, if nothing else. It's an amazing place.
SPEAKER_01Good to catch up with you, Adam. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Cheers, Pap.
